Political analyst, Alhaji Saka, has called for stronger and more decisive government action to address insecurity across Nigeria.
Speaking during SBS FM’s Newspaper Review programme monitored by reporter Abdulsamad Abdulmalik, Alhaji Saka analyst commended the resilience and unity displayed by communities affected by insecurity, particularly residents of Woro Local Government Area of Kwara State. While acknowledging the Kwara State Government’s efforts in securing the release of abducted victims, he said concerns by members of the community over the level of government intervention deserve serious attention.
Alhaji Saka urged the Kwara State Government to adopt effective security strategies used in other states. He also praised the people of Kaima for their collective efforts to secure the release of kidnapped victims, noting that reports suggesting the bandits rejected the ransom indicate that the criminals may be seeking direct engagement with government authorities.
He stressed that security should not be left to the government alone, calling on citizens to support security agencies with timely and credible intelligence. However, he maintained that the government must adopt more effective measures to confront criminal elements, insisting that previous approaches have not produced the desired results.
The analyst also advocated a tougher response against bandits rather than negotiating with them. He encouraged residents of Kwara State to peacefully demand greater accountability from political leaders on security issues instead of waiting until election periods.
Commenting on the President’s recent remarks on insecurity, Alhaja Saka said lasting success in tackling the challenge requires stronger collaboration between government and citizens. He also questioned the communication channels used by bandits to contact government officials, urging security agencies to exploit such channels to track and apprehend criminal elements.
