Experts have urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to focus on delivering credible elections at home rather than rushing into diaspora voting.
Alhaji Abdulraheem Saka, a veteran public affairs analyst and elder statesman, emphasized the need for free and fair elections within Nigeria before considering the inclusion of Nigerians abroad in the voting process.
Comrade Olaitan Arije, a policy and public affairs analyst, added that Nigeria is not yet technologically ready to handle voting from the diaspora, warning that the system could face significant challenges.
Both experts shared their views on today’s episode of Newspaper Review and Analysis on SBS FM, closely monitored by our reporter, Oluwatosin Babatunde, following the House of Representatives’ recent call to introduce diaspora voting.
The debate highlights the ongoing discussions about expanding electoral participation for Nigerians living abroad.
