Governor Chukwuma Soludo has thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the president’s firm commitment to a free and fair electoral process in the November 8 Anambra governorship election.

Delivering his acceptance speech on Sunday after being declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Soludo said the president demonstrated “true democratic values” by insisting on credible polls.

“With a sense of gratitude to the President and Commander-in-Chief, I thank President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for being a very true democrat. He has demonstrated very firmly his commitment to guaranteeing a free and fair election,” he said.

Soludo also commended INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, describing the election as the best conducted in the state since the introduction of technology. He said INEC’s first major outing under Amupitan created “a very emphatic first impression.”

The governor, re-elected alongside his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim, said the result reflected the will of the people, noting what he called one of the highest levels of voter engagement in recent years. He highlighted that about 22 percent of registered voters participated, calling it unprecedented in the state.

Soludo also noted that his victory makes him only the third incumbent governor to secure re-election in Anambra since 1999, adding that he won with an emphatic 73 percent of the total votes cast.
