The African Democratic Congress, ADC, says Nigerians should not judge its strength by the recent bye-elections in 12 states.
Speaking on Lagboselu on SBS 96.9FM, ADC National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said the party did not have candidates in many constituencies. Our reporter, Oluwatosin Babatunde, who monitored the program, reports that Abdullahi described ADC as a credible alternative, inclusive of young people, and capable of helping Nigeria overcome current challenges. He said the beauty of democracy lies in having a credible and viable opposition.
Abdullahi also criticized the elections, alleging vote-buying, thuggery, and other irregularities. He added that many Nigerian parties lack ideology, with the ruling party often dictating policies rather than following principles.
He clarified that SBS 96.9FM is independent and not linked to Senator Bukola Saraki, and that there is no personal rift between him and Saraki despite political differences.
