Breaking: Tinubu Nominates Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who will now serve as Minister of State in the Ministry of Budget and National Planning — her third portfolio in the current administration.

Tinubu conveyed Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday.

Oyedele, 50, hails from Ikaram, Akoko in Ondo State. Prior to his nomination, he chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which overhauled Nigeria’s tax system.

An economist, accountant, and public policy expert, Oyedele holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He has also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, joining in 2001 and rising to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. He is also a professor at Babcock University and a visiting scholar at Lagos Business School.
