The wife of Zamfara State Governor, Huriyya Dauda-Lawal, has emphasised that early detection remains the most effective way to combat cancer and reduce its toll on women.
She stated this in her message commemorating the 2025 World Breast Cancer Day on Tuesday, where she called for greater awareness and regular screenings among women.
“As women, we must care for ourselves and one another. For those battling cancer, let us stand with them in love, strength, and hope,” she said. “Together, we can build a future where no one faces cancer alone. Behind every diagnosis is a face, a name, and a life that deserves care and dignity.”
Mrs Dauda-Lawal, who serves as the National Secretary of the First Ladies Against Cancer initiative, urged women to prioritise regular health checks and support campaigns that promote cancer awareness and treatment.
She commended Zamfara women for their resilience and commitment to health, assuring them of her continued advocacy for prevention, awareness, and access to quality care.
The First Ladies Against Cancer initiative is a coalition of Nigerian governors’ wives working to combat cancer through advocacy, policy reform, and grassroots intervention.
