The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has urged all corporate and MD electricity customers to provide their tax identification information to comply with the Nigeria Tax Act (2025).
In a statement posted on its official account on Tuesday, EKEDC said the law, which took effect on January 1, 2026, requires all invoices issued to corporate/MD customers to include at least one of the following: Tax Identification Number (TIN), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration number, or National Identification Number (NIN).
Customers were instructed to submit the required details, along with their name, email, and phone number, via customertax-id.ekedp.com by February 28, 2026.
EKEDC warned that invoices without these details would be considered invalid, and failure to comply could prevent billing and potentially lead to service suspension after the deadline.
For those without a TIN, the company advised registering at tin.jtb.gov.ng or confirming an existing TIN. EKEDC thanked its customers for their “prompt cooperation” in meeting statutory obligations.
