Ekiti Tightens Security in Border Communities After Kwara Attacks

By Rofiat Abdullahi

The Ekiti State Government has stepped up security surveillance across its boundary communities to forestall possible infiltration by kidnappers and bandits following recent attacks in neighbouring Kwara State.

Chairman of Ajoni Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Michael Ogungbemi, confirmed the development in a phone interview with newsmen, saying security operations had been reinforced in communities linking Ekiti, Kwara, and Kogi States.

“We’ve strengthened surveillance and deployed more personnel along border routes to prevent any spillover of criminal activities,” Ogungbemi said.

He disclosed that the council had launched a local security initiative, Operation Eborac, to tackle banditry, kidnapping, and other crimes around the border areas.

“We’re also working closely with security agencies and community networks across Kogi and Kwara states to ensure collective safety,” he added.
