Security operatives, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have killed four suspected bandits and rescued two kidnapped victims during a rescue operation in Aboki community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The Kwara State Government disclosed the development in a statement posted on its verified X handle, @followKWSG, on Wednesday.
According to the government, security personnel were swiftly deployed after receiving reports of a kidnapping incident in the community.
It said five armed bandits invaded the area and abducted a resident, Alhaji Tukur, but security operatives engaged the attackers, killing four of them while one escaped with gunshot injuries.
A local source confirmed that Alhaji Tukur and another abductee were rescued unhurt during the operation.
The state government said security agencies have significantly improved their response time as part of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and banditry.
It added that the recent approval of a new Nigerian Army battalion for Omu Aran would further strengthen security operations against terrorism and other violent crimes across the state.
The government urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support efforts aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
