The 10th Sarkin Gobir and Madawaki of Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir, has commended the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for championing the reconstruction of the ultramodern Imam Gambari Mosque ahead of its inauguration on Tuesday.
Gobir described the upgraded mosque as a beacon of faith, unity and heritage, noting that its transformation represents a major milestone in the ongoing Ilorin Renaissance. He praised the Emir, who also chairs the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, for his leadership and commitment to the spiritual and infrastructural growth of the Emirate.
“This project is more than a building; it is a testament to His Royal Highness’s dedication to preserving our heritage while embracing modernity,” Gobir said, adding that the iconic mosque now stands as a magnificent edifice for future generations.
The Imam Gambari Mosque holds deep historical and spiritual significance in Ilorin, and its reconstruction—overseen by the Emir—reflects the need to provide modern worship facilities without eroding its foundational legacy.
Gobir also acknowledged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for supporting the landmark project during his administration. The upgraded complex features state-of-the-art amenities blending modern architecture with traditional Islamic designs.
The inauguration on November 11 is expected to draw religious leaders, traditional rulers, scholars, government officials and indigenes from across the world. The ceremony will include special prayers, Qur’anic recitations and goodwill messages, reinforcing the enduring bond between the palace and the state government.
