Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the appointment of a seven-member committee to interface with the Woro community over humanitarian support announced by the state government following the recent attack on the area.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye.
According to the statement, the committee is chaired by a former lawmaker from Kaiama Local Government Area, Hon. Ahmed Kiwozi. Other members include the Vice Chairman of Kaiama Local Government Council, Aisha Abubakar Sadiq; Alhaji Abubakar Mora; and the Village Head of Woro, Alhaji Umar Bio Saliu.
Also appointed to the committee are representatives of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP), and a female representative from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
The committee has been given four weeks to carry out its assignment. Its mandate includes engaging community leaders on rebuilding efforts, identifying areas of urgent need for survivors of the attack, and addressing other outstanding issues arising from the incident.
Governor AbdulRazaq had earlier announced humanitarian support for the Woro community as part of the state government’s response to the incident.
