Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Wednesday in Ilorin hosted two indigenes of the state who emerged top performers at the 2026 Nigerian Law School Graduation in Abuja.
The honourees are Israel Adekunle Adeniyi from Offa, who emerged the overall best graduating student, and Oluwatomisin Promise Daniel from Idofin Igbana in Oke-Ero LGA, who was the second best graduating student in Criminal Litigation. Both scholars are alumni of the University of Ilorin.
Speaking during the reception, Governor AbdulRazaq said the meeting was to personally recognize their hard work, commitment and brilliance, and to encourage other young Kwarans to strive for excellence.
“I felt it was necessary to personally honour their hard work, commitment, and brilliance to motivate others to also do well and make their families and our state proud,” the Governor stated.
As part of the state’s recognition, the Governor announced a cash gift of N5 million to each of the legal scholars.
He also expressed support for their further studies after the duo shared plans to pursue Master’s degrees at Ivy League institutions abroad.
“I was fascinated by their plans of going for their Master’s degrees at some Ivy League institutions across the Atlantic, and I accordingly pledged to fund this academic endeavour once they secure their admission,” AbdulRazaq said.
The Governor described the gesture as “our token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication,” adding that his administration “cares for excellence and hard work in any field.”
He further noted that the achievements of Israel and Oluwatomisin debunk the notion that “school is a scam,” saying the two young lawyers are already excelling as scholars.
“And in what gave a lie to the ‘school is a scam’ refrain these days, Israel and Oluwatomisin are already doing very well after school as young legal scholars, and I wish them all the best that life has to offer,” he added.
The Governor congratulated the graduands and urged other students in the state to emulate their dedication to academic excellence.
