Moroccan international and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi is set to face trial over a rape allegation.
Hakimi has denied the accusation, insisting he is innocent. In a post on X on Tuesday, the footballer said, “Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I deny it and everything proves it’s false.
“This is as unjust to the innocent as it is to the genuine victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly,” he added.
The Nanterre prosecutor’s office opened an investigation into the allegation in 2023. As of press time, the prosecutor had not responded to requests for comment.
Further details are expected as the case proceeds to trial.
