Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi has been crowned the 2025 CAF Men’s Player of the Year, securing the continent’s top individual football honour after a historic season for club and country.

Hakimi, who plays as a right-back for Paris Saint-Germain, clinched the award for the first time on Tuesday night. He beat Egyptian star Mohamed Salah and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen to the coveted prize, following a year of remarkable consistency and major silverware.

The 27-year-old was widely expected to win, after helping PSG to an unprecedented four-trophy haul — the Ligue 1 title, UEFA Champions League, Coupe de France and Trophée des Champions. His form also earned him 6th place in the 2025 Ballon d’Or ranking.

Across all competitions, Hakimi logged more than 3,400 minutes of football, scoring six goals and providing four assists in Ligue 1, alongside five goals and four assists in the Champions League. His defensive contributions helped PSG maintain 10 clean sheets in the league.

The defender’s brilliant campaign secured him places in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season, Ligue 1 Team of the Season, and the CAF Team of the Year.

The award caps another milestone in the career of one of Africa’s most influential and technically gifted footballers, whose performances have redefined the modern full-back role on the global stage.
