The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed that the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, voluntarily honoured its invitation as part of ongoing investigations into the activities of the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
In a statement released on its verified X handle on Tuesday July 21st 2026, the Commission said Gbajabiamila appeared before its investigators and provided a statement to assist in clarifying issues surrounding the alleged body.
“The Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, honoured the invitation of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission in connection with an ongoing investigation,” the statement read.
The Commission stressed that his appearance was in line with standard investigative procedures and should not be misconstrued as an arrest or detention.
“Mr. Gbajabiamila was not arrested. He came of his own accord, made his statement, and left,” ICPC clarified.
ICPC further stated that the PFIPC matter is being investigated to determine the legality, structure, and operations of the group, including whether it misrepresented itself as an agency of the Federal Government.
“The Commission wishes to assure the public that the investigation is thorough, professional and in accordance with the law. Updates will be provided as the inquiry progresses,” the statement added.
The ICPC reiterated its commitment to upholding transparency, due process and the rule of law in the discharge of its mandate.
