IEPA Mourns Prof. Badmas Yusuf, Describes His Death as Great Loss

The Ilorin Emirate Professors’ Association (IEPA) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Professor Badmas Olanrewaju Yusuf, a renowned Islamic scholar, academic, and community leader.

In a condolence message signed by its President, Prof. Abdul Kabir Hussain Solihu, and Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Alanamu AbdulRahman, the association described the late scholar as a distinguished servant of Islam and humanity whose contributions to education and religious leadership left lasting footprints.

Professor Yusuf, who died on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the age of 69 after a brief illness, was buried on Saturday following Janazah prayers at his family residence in Ojagboro, Ilorin.

He served the University of Ilorin since 1992 and held several key positions, including Director of the Linguistic Immersion Centre, Dean of the Postgraduate School, and Head of the Department of Religious Studies.

The late professor also played prominent roles in Islamic administration, serving as Chairman of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Board, Provost of the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, and a pioneer commissioner at the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

IEPA prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased and asked for strength and comfort for his family, the Ilorin Emirate, and the Muslim Ummah.
