The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has reprinted ballot papers for the Osun State governorship election to include the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Dr Francis Olugbenga Ajala.
INEC announced the development on Tuesday, following a Federal High Court judgment directing the commission to recognise and include Ajala in the August 15 governorship election.
Ajala and his running mate, Faseke Babajimi Oladipo, will now appear on the ballot, bringing the number of political parties contesting the election to 15.
The commission said it is also reproducing the result sheets to reflect the inclusion of the SDP candidate.
INEC explained that the court order followed a judgment delivered on July 22 in Suit Number FHC/ABJ/CS/344/2026, directing the commission to recognise, accept, upload, process and publish Ajala as the SDP candidate.
According to the commission, the reprinted ballot papers are expected to arrive in Osun State on Thursday, August 13, before being distributed to the various Local Government Area offices ahead of Saturday’s election.
The National Commissioner and Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, assured political parties, candidates and voters of the commission’s commitment to conducting a free, fair and credible election.
With the latest development, 15 political parties will now participate in the August 15 Osun governorship election.
