The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance winner of the November 8 Anambra governorship election.
Announcing the final results at INEC’s headquarters in Awka on Sunday, the Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, said Soludo polled 422,664 votes to secure a second term.
His closest challenger, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, scored 99,445 votes, while Young Progressives Party candidate Paul Chukwuma garnered 37,753 votes.
Labour Party’s George Moghalu finished with 10,576 votes, and African Democratic Congress candidate John Nwosu, backed by a coalition of groups, obtained 8,208 votes.
INEC declared Soludo returned elected after winning the majority of lawful votes cast across the state.
