The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has partnered with a non-governmental organisation, U-Blaze Global Limited, to intensify voter registration awareness in Ondo State ahead of the July 26, 2026, deadline for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The initiative is part of efforts by the electoral commission to encourage eligible Nigerians to register as first-time voters, transfer their voter registration where necessary, or update their voter information ahead of future elections.

INEC disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday following a voter sensitisation campaign held in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

According to the commission, the campaign, tagged “PVC Assembly Walk 2026 – Vote Ready Ondo,” was organised to deepen voter education, promote civic responsibility and increase participation in the electoral process.

The awareness walk began at the First Bank Traffic Light in Alagbaka and passed through Omi-Eja, A-Division, Olukayode and Oja-Oba before ending at Democracy Park behind the Central Mosque in Akure.

The exercise attracted students, members of U-Blaze Global Limited and officials of the Ondo State office of INEC.

During the campaign, participants engaged residents on the importance of voter registration and educated them on the procedures for registering, transferring registration and updating voter records.

Speaking at the event, the Head of the Voter Education and Publicity Department of INEC in Ondo State, Mr. Olayinka Ogunseye, commended the partnership with the non-governmental organisation, describing it as a significant step towards improving voter awareness across the state.

He reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to working with civil society organisations and other stakeholders to strengthen voter education and public enlightenment.

Ogunseye also urged all eligible residents who are yet to register, as well as those seeking to transfer or update their voter information, to complete the process before the July 26 deadline.

INEC reiterated that it will continue to intensify voter education campaigns to ensure that every eligible citizen has the opportunity to register and participate in future elections.
