Iran: Khamenei’s Wife, Bagherzadeh, Dies After Reported US–Israel Strike

Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, wife of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has died in Tehran, according to Iranian state media.

Reports said the 79-year-old succumbed to injuries sustained during a joint United States–Israeli military strike that targeted multiple locations in and around the Iranian capital. She had reportedly been in a coma since Saturday following the air campaign, which Iranian outlets claim also killed Khamenei and several senior officials.

Bagherzadeh, born in Mashhad, Iran, married Khamenei in 1965 and remained a prominent figure within the country’s clerical establishment throughout his more than three decades as Supreme Leader.

There has been no independent confirmation of the circumstances surrounding the reported strikes.
