A lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at the Federal University, Lokoja, Mrs Kemi Emmanuel, has died after being crushed by a trailer along the Felele axis of the state capital.

The Kogi State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Tenimu Etuku, confirmed the incident on Thursday, describing it as “very sad and unfortunate.”

Etuku said the accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday when the lecturer fell off a commercial motorcycle after being hit by a speeding truck near Crusher Junction.

“She was rushed to the Kogi State Specialist Hospital but was confirmed dead,” he said.

The tragedy has reignited public outrage over recurring trailer-related crashes in the area. Residents are now calling on the state government to restrict heavy-duty trucks from passing through Lokoja during the day to prevent further loss of lives.
