Team Kwara continue their impressive performance in the ongoing 9th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State as the athletes are poised with passion and determination for glory in different events unfolded so far.
In Para-Powerlifting, Ridwan Adebayo won Team Kwara’s third gold medal in 49kg category as Abdulkareem Mujibat settled for bronze in female 45kg event.
Idris Asiata and Sheedu Awalu as well as Kehinde Semilore and Yusuf Mohammed settled for bronze medal in Table Tennis boys and girls doubles event and Gaana Grace and Busayo Falana clinched gold in female doubles in Fives while Gaana Grace claimed silver in girl’s singles event.
Team Kwara hope for podium finish were dashed in Ayo event after a defeat in quarter-finals in female and male doubles event.
Ojo Shammah showed her aquatic skills to earn bronze medal in 100km in swimming butterfly female event and in Darts,Team Kwara kissed defeat in 501 female singles against opponents from Edo State in the quarter-finals.
Also in Taekwondo, Mariam Mohammed lost to her opponents from Team Abuja in round eight, while Abdulrasak Oreoluwa Yunus secured a silver medal in -48kg Taekwondo event, while in Shooting, Osuntoki Haliyah claimed bronze in the female category of pistol event.
Events such as Ayo, Cricket, Volleyball, Taekwondo, Shooting, Swimming, Boxing, Cricket, Cycling, Golf, Squash and Handball, continue
Events like Badminton, Athletics, Deaf Athletics, Para-Athletics, Judo, and Chess, begin today as Team Kwara aims podium finish in the events listed respectively.
