The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced preparations for the 2027 Hajj operation, with the Executive Secretary, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, assuring intending pilgrims of improved coordination and welfare services.
Abdulkadir disclosed this while speaking on a radio programme, where he urged intending pilgrims to comply with the approved payment schedule, use designated payment channels and submit all required documents on time.
He said intending pilgrims could make an initial payment of five million naira using their valid international passports, while the balance of the Hajj fare must be paid on or before the end of November 2026.
The Executive Secretary advised pilgrims to make payments only through designated banks by obtaining bank drafts approved by the Board.
He also urged intending pilgrims whose international passports would expire before April 2027 to renew them promptly to avoid documentation challenges.
Abdulkadir said the Board had recorded improvements in its airlift arrangements, noting that the capacity had increased from about 260 pilgrims per trip to approximately 560.
According to him, the development has reduced the number of trips required to transport Kwara pilgrims from about 15 to four, thereby shortening the airlift period and improving the overall pilgrimage experience.
He appreciated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his support towards the Board and the welfare of Muslim pilgrims in the state.
He also commended the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Board staff, agents and intending pilgrims for their cooperation and support.
