Kwara Govt Restricts Movement for February Sanitation Exercise

The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly statewide environmental sanitation exercise for February will hold on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued from the office of the Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge.

According to the statement, there will be no human or vehicular movement during the three-hour exercise. It warned that violators will be apprehended and taken before mobile courts for prosecution, with fines and penalties imposed as deterrence.

Residents were urged to use the period to clean their homes, business premises, and drainages, and to remove any environmental nuisances or health hazards in order to sustain a clean and safe environment across the state.

The government stressed the importance of environmental hygiene, particularly during the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent, reiterating that “cleanliness is next to godliness.”

It added that waste collection trucks will be deployed for refuse evacuation, while environmental health officers (Wole-Wole), task force teams, and security agencies will monitor compliance with sanitation regulations.
