The Kwara State Government has urged residents in parts of the state to be vigilant and restrict outdoor activities as security forces intensify operations against kidnappers’ hideouts in border communities.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, October 1, by the Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, the government advised people in Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Oke Ero, and Irepodun Local Government Areas to exercise caution and limit movement to essential routines only.
“We urge people to be very vigilant and limit their movements to only very necessary routines. That is to avoid being caught unawares as the kidnappers are fleeing their hideouts. We do not want law-abiding citizens to be affected,” the statement read.
Olukoju acknowledged the temporary inconveniences the advisory may cause but stressed it was in the best interest of residents’ safety.
She commended security forces for their intensified raids on criminal hideouts and urged them to sustain the pressure “until the criminals are totally neutralised and flushed out of our forests.”
