The Kwara State Police Command has activated comprehensive security arrangements across the state ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, assuring residents of adequate protection of lives and property during the festive period.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, disclosed this in a press briefing issued on Wednesday, stating that the measures are part of proactive policing efforts to maintain public safety and confidence throughout the season.
According to the statement, police personnel have been deployed to strategic locations including places of worship, markets, recreational and event centres, motor parks, highways, and other public spaces across the state.
The Command noted that the deployment aligns with the nationwide Yuletide security architecture approved by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, which emphasises visibility policing, intelligence-led patrols, and targeted operations.
It added that tactical and specialised units have been placed on heightened alert, with sustained surveillance and raids ongoing in identified blackspots and flashpoints across Kwara State.
CP Ojo directed all deployed officers to remain professional, firm, and courteous in the discharge of their duties, stressing that the police would not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct.
The Police Command assured residents of its resolve to sustain peace and security before, during, and after the festive period, while urging the public to remain vigilant and celebrate responsibly.
Residents were also encouraged to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s control room lines on 07032069501 and 08125275046.
The Commissioner of Police extended warm Christmas and New Year greetings to residents, expressing hope that the celebrations would strengthen unity, peace, and progress across the state.
