Kwara Police deploy personnel, release emergency lines ahead of Eid-el-Kabir

The Kwara State Police Command has announced the deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration to ensure security and prevent breaches during the festive period.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi.

According to the statement, security arrangements have been put in place to ensure peaceful celebrations across the state.

The commissioner also extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslim faithful in Kwara and beyond, urging residents to celebrate peacefully and responsibly.

“As Muslim faithful observe this significant religious festival marked by sacrifice, obedience and devotion, the Command urges residents to celebrate peacefully, responsibly, and in accordance with the law,” the statement read.

The police said officers would be strategically deployed to Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, highways, motor parks, critical national infrastructure and other vulnerable areas.

“In line with the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, the Commissioner of Police has ordered a robust and strategic deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Eid celebration,” the statement added.

Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders and other operational units have also been directed to intensify security operations before, during and after the festivities.

The command said personnel would carry out visibility policing, intelligence-led surveillance, patrols, stop-and-search operations, crowd management and other proactive security measures.

The police also warned against erecting tents, canopies or any form of obstruction on roads and highways, describing such actions as security and traffic risks.

Residents were advised to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The command also released emergency contact numbers for distress calls during the celebration.

“For emergencies or distress situations, members of the public are advised to contact the Command through the following emergency numbers: 07032069501 or 08125275046,” the statement said.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining security across Kwara State during and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
