The Kwara State Government has received two members of Team Nigeria who won gold and silver medals at the Spelling Bee World Cup held in Shanghai, China.
The medalists, Maryam Yusuf and Abdurrahman Yusuf of Ar-Raheem School, were received by a government delegation at the Ilorin International Airport in recognition of their outstanding performance at the global competition.
Maryam Yusuf won the gold medal, while Abdurrahman Yusuf secured the silver medal as part of Team Nigeria, which also included Oluwadamilola Adeolu of St. Lawrence Schools, Ado-Ekiti, and Chinedu Okediachi of Madonna International College, Asaba.
The Kwara State Government commended the students for their hard work, discipline and academic excellence, describing their achievement as a testament to the potential of Nigerian children when provided with the right support. It added that the success has brought honour to both Kwara State and Nigeria on the international stage.
