The Kwara-based Sugar Factory Film Studio has unveiled a ₦290 million AJUWAYA film series, a production hailed as a turning point for the nation’s creative economy.
Speaking at the press conference today in Ilorin, Grace Babashola, General Manager of the studio, said the project reflects Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s vision to make Kwara the heartbeat of Nigerian cinema.
She noted that the factory is more than a film house, it’s a mission brought to life by the Governor’s belief in young talent and Nigeria’s creative potential,” she also commends Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her ₦350 million support through the Renewed Hope Initiative.
Gbenga Titiloye, Managing Director and Executive Producer, revealed that AJUWAYA was 85% shot in Kwara, describing the studio as the only fully functional facility of its kind in Nigeria.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, disclosed that over 1,200 people worked on set, with more than 700 locals benefiting directly, noting that It’s not just art; it’s economic growth in motion
AJUWAYA: The Series will hit cinemas soon before streaming on Netflix, positioning Kwara as a rising force in Africa’s film industry.
