The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos State Axis, has urged the Federal Ministry of Education to release and implement the report of the Special Visitation Panel investigating the leadership crisis at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka.
The student body expressed frustration over the Ministry’s delay, saying the report—submitted more than two months ago—holds the key to resolving the lingering administrative vacuum at the institution.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Abdul-Raheem Abdul-Quadri, NANS lamented that the college had been “running on autopilot” since the exit of the former provost, with worsening infrastructure decay and student welfare issues.
“The absence of leadership has paralysed administrative processes, disrupted academic order, and endangered the welfare of both students and staff,” the statement read.
The visitation panel, inaugurated on July 29 by Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa, concluded its work in August after receiving submissions from key stakeholders.
Abdul-Quadri called on the Minister to act swiftly, warning that continued silence would deepen the crisis and erode confidence in due process.
“Students must not continue to bear the brunt of political or administrative delays,” he said. “The Ministry must urgently approve and implement the panel’s recommendations to restore peace and accountability at FCE Akoka.”
