New Defence Minister Christopher Musa Assumes Office, Meets Service Chiefs in Abuja

The newly appointed Minister of Defence and immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, retired General Christopher Musa, on Friday officially assumed duty at the Ministry of Defence, Ship House, Abuja.

Gen. Musa, appointed on Tuesday by President Bola Tinubu after the resignation of former minister Muhammed Badaru, was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday.

His return to the ministry has been widely welcomed, with security observers expressing confidence in his record of firm and innovative leadership as defence chief between 2023 and 2025.

The minister arrived at about 11:10 a.m., inspected the quarter guard in line with military tradition, and exchanged greetings with top officers before heading into a closed-door meeting with service chiefs and the ministry’s directors.
