Nnadozie Clinches CAF Best Goalkeeper Award for Third Straight Year

By Oluwatoyin Makinde

Super Falcons shot-stopper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has been named the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year for the third consecutive time, sealing her place among Africa’s greatest after a stellar year for club and country.

Nnadozie received the honour at the 2025 CAF Awards held on Wednesday in Rabat, Morocco, adding to her previous wins in 2023 and 2024.

The Brighton goalkeeper featured in every minute as Nigeria clinched a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title earlier in the year. She conceded just three goals in six matches — one in the semi-final against South Africa and two in the final win over hosts Morocco — earning her the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award.

Nnadozie edged Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini to claim the top prize.

In her acceptance remarks, the 24-year-old thanked CAF, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), her club and national teammates, and her coaches for their support.

Beyond her national team heroics, Nnadozie also lifted the Coupe de France Féminine with Paris FC within the period under review before her move to Brighton.

The women’s category of the goalkeeper award was mirrored by the men’s, which went to Morocco’s Yassine Bounou.

Nnadozie’s latest honour adds to her growing list of achievements, including a fourth-place finish for the women’s Yachine Trophy at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Super Falcons were crowned CAF Women’s National Team of the Year, beating Ghana’s Black Queens and Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses, following their triumphant WAFCON campaign.

In other categories, Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak won the CAF Women’s Player of the Year, while Morocco’s U-20 World Cup-winning team was voted the Men’s National Team of the Year.
