The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two suspected bandits during an intelligence-driven operation in Saminaka community, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The suspects, identified as Abubakar Jubril, 28, and Mohammed Abubakar, 26, were apprehended on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, following sustained surveillance by operatives of the state command.
According to the corps, the suspects were among three suspicious individuals spotted in a volatile area of the community.
“While two were arrested, the third suspect escaped and is currently at large,” the command said, adding that efforts are underway to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.
Items recovered from the suspects include a pistol with serial number 7886, reportedly made in the United States, a mobile phone, drugs suspected to be tramadol, and cigarettes.
Parading the suspects on Friday, the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Bala Bodinga, reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to intensifying operations against criminal activities across the state.
Bodinga warned individuals involved in criminal activities to desist or face the full weight of the law, stressing that the command would continue to pursue offenders and ensure the safety of residents.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist security agencies in combating crime.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, Ayoola Michael, said the suspects would be charged to court after investigations are concluded or transferred to the appropriate security agency for further action.
