NYSC Corps Members Pass Out in Ilorin West Amid Celebration, Safety Advisory

Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday formally concluded their one-year mandatory service, marked by a colourful Passing Out Parade (POP).

The event saw corps members turn out in high spirits, many dressed in creatively styled “six over seven” outfits, symbolising both celebration and relief at the successful completion of their service year.

Addressing the gathering, the Local Government Inspector (LGI), Mrs. Daramola Banke, congratulated the corps members for their dedication and resilience, commending their contributions to community development during their service year.

She, however, stressed the importance of safety, particularly after the collection of certificates. Daramola reminded the outgoing corps members that their status remains valid for 21 days during their terminal leave, noting that both the government and NYSC authorities are still responsible for their welfare within that period.

She advised them to be cautious in their travel plans, urging those with unfavourable travel timing to delay their journeys.

“Prioritising safety over haste is crucial during this transition period,” she said.

The ceremony ended with the distribution of certificates, amid cheers and excitement from the corps members, bringing their NYSC service year to a close.
