The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has postponed the commencement of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger States due to ongoing renovation works at the orientation camps.
The NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, announced this in a statement shared on the scheme’s official X handle on Friday, saying the decision followed continued rehabilitation of the camps by the respective state governments.
Under the revised schedule, the orientation exercise will now begin on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, while the cut-off and swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Friday, August 14. The closing ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
The NYSC advised prospective corps members posted to the two states to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid travelling at night, as preparations continue for the orientation exercise.
The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, wished all prospective corps members safe journeys to their respective orientation camps.
