Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday drew laughter and applause when he sang affectionately for Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, during the unveiling of the Ibadan Central Bus Terminal at Iwo Road.

In a video that has since gone viral, Obasanjo referred to Makinde as “my beloved child,” a moment that highlighted their warm mentor–protégé bond before a cheering crowd.

The former president, who was the special guest of honour at the event, unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the formal opening of the new terminal — one of the state’s flagship transport infrastructure projects.

Obasanjo commended Makinde and the people of Oyo State for their “consistent pursuit of modern, people-centred development,” describing the project as a model for other states to emulate.
