The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State has warned members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that wearing the NYSC uniform does not exempt them from the law or give them the freedom to engage in criminal activities.
The Police Commissioner gave the warning while addressing prospective corps members during the orientation programme, urging them to be law-abiding and uphold the values of discipline, integrity and patriotism throughout their service year.
He cautioned corps members against involvement in crimes, cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and other unlawful activities, stressing that anyone found violating the law would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Police Commissioner also advised corps members to remain security conscious, avoid risky environments, and promptly report suspicious movements or security threats to relevant authorities.
He assured the corps members of the command’s commitment to ensuring their safety throughout their service year, while encouraging them to work closely with security agencies and contribute positively to the development of their host communities.
