Former Kwara State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, has sponsored a free medical outreach for residents of Ilorin East and Ilorin South Federal Constituency.
The exercise, organised by the Ilorin College of Health Technology, was held simultaneously at Balogun Fulani in Ilorin South and Kankatu Market, Okelele, in Ilorin East Local Government Area.
Beneficiaries were drawn from the 23 wards across the two local government areas and received medical consultations and drugs during the outreach.
Speaking with beneficiaries, Alhaji Soliu Ishola Balogun commended the initiative, saying the medical team attended to his health complaints and provided him with medication. He described Olododo as a young leader who has demonstrated commitment to the welfare of the people.
Another beneficiary, Mallam Taiye Soliu Gobir, described the intervention as timely, while Hajia Aishat Usman appreciated the gesture and appealed for additional support for small business owners through access to capital.
The Alangua of Ibagun community, Mallam Sakariyau Iyanda, also commended the initiative, saying many residents face health challenges but are unable to access regular medical care because of financial constraints.
Also speaking, the Supervising Councillor for Education in Ilorin South Local Government, Honourable Saidu Lafia, said the outreach reflected what he described as Olododo’s commitment to community development.
Lafia stressed that the beneficiaries were selected without consideration for political affiliation, adding that community and religious leaders helped to mobilise residents for the exercise. He urged the beneficiaries to support Olododo’s political aspirations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
