Olukoyede Applauds CISON, Says ‘Data Is About Life’

By Beki Abubakar

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has emphasised the importance of data in human and national development, describing it as “the essence of life.”

Olukoyede stated this on Friday, October 17, 2025, when the President of the Chartered Institute of Statisticians of Nigeria (CISON), Goddy Ebuh, paid him a courtesy visit at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

“I believe not only in the collection of figures — data is actually about life. Your health, your sleep schedule, your daily plans all depend on data. That’s how vital it is to both personal growth and national development,” he said.

The EFCC boss assured the institute of the Commission’s support and collaboration in promoting data-driven governance and accountability.

Earlier, CISON President Ebuh called for a partnership between both organisations, urging the EFCC to become a corporate member of the institute.

“We need to synergise with the EFCC. As a corporate member, the Commission can help promote our academic competitions and capacity-building initiatives. Together, we can drive greater national impact,” Ebuh said.
