By Rofiat Abdullahi

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Otunba Olugbenga Peter Obafemi, has pledged to transform the state’s economy and drive sustainable development if elected governor in the June 20, 2026 election.

Speaking during a stakeholder engagement in Ado-Ekiti, Obafemi said Ekiti’s future depends on pragmatic leadership, strategic partnerships, and people-centered governance.

The businessman and aviation expert promised to leverage his experience to move Ekiti from a dependent to a self-sustaining economy, adding that his administration would tap into the state’s rich agricultural potential to fight hunger, reduce poverty, and create jobs.

He also vowed to strengthen regional ties through collaboration with other Southwest governors via the DAWN Commission and the Southwest Development Commission, to unlock shared economic opportunities for the region.
