The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that a female police officer serving in the state was kidnapped and murdered.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi (anipr), the command described the claims as false, misleading, and intended to cause unnecessary panic among residents.
According to the command, there has been no report of any female police officer missing or abducted in any division across the state.
“The report is not only false but also misleading. Members of the public are advised to disregard it in its entirety,” the statement read.
The command also clarified that there is no Ogidi Police Division in Kwara State, countering one of the false details contained in the viral reports.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi warned against spreading misinformation capable of causing fear or damaging reputations, urging media outlets and social media users to verify stories before publication.
She added that under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo (psc, mnips), the command remains committed to transparency, security, and peace in the state.
