Police Probe Murder Of Farmer Found Dead On Kwara Farmland

The Kwara State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of a farmer, Mr Azeez Garba, whose body was discovered on his farmland along the Owa-Onire axis, between Isanlu-Isin and Owu-Isin in Isin Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a comprehensive and discreet investigation into the incident.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi on Tuesday, said the commissioner described the killing as cruel and unacceptable, directing investigators to deploy all available intelligence resources to identify and arrest those responsible.

Preliminary findings showed that Garba had left home for his farm in the morning but failed to return, prompting family members and local vigilantes to begin a search.

His motorcycle was later found at the farm, while his lifeless body was discovered a short distance away with deep machete wounds.

The police said no arrest had been made as of the time of the statement but assured the family of the deceased and residents of Isin that all leads were being followed to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across Kwara State, adding that efforts would continue until those behind the crime are brought to justice.
