President Bola Tinubu has called on the graduating class to embrace innovation and uphold national stability as they transition into the workforce.

President Tinubu made these remarks during the 40th  Convocation Ceremony of the University of Ilorin where he was ably represented by the vice chancellor of the federal university of technology, Akure, (FUTA) professor Adenike temidayo oladiji.

Addressing thousands of graduands and guests at the university’s main auditorium, President Tinubu pledged the federal government’s commitment to fostering a conducive academic environment and economic climate for young Nigerians.

President Tinubu congratulated the graduating student on their academic achievements and urged them to contribute positively to Nigeria’s development. He emphasised that the certificates being conferred are not just credentials, but tools for leadership and transformation.

“In this era of rapid change, you must turn your education into enterprise, your ideas into industries, and your integrity into impact,” the President said. He urged the new graduates to be “architects of solutions” in fields ranging from agriculture and technology to health and public service.

In a significant announcement, President Tinubu inaugurated several new infrastructure projects on campus, including an Innovation Hub and upgraded lecture theatres, as part of the university’s half-century celebration.  The projects, he said, represent the government’s resolve to link education with national development.

Responding to the country’s economic and security challenges, President Tinubu assured the audience that stability and growth remain top priorities for his administration. He encouraged the graduands to play active roles in their communities and the economy, and to view entrepreneurial ambition as complementary to employment.

The convocation ceremony, which saw 11,886 first-degree graduands and 1,520 higher-degree recipients, underscores the university’s enduring reputation and the expanding pool of skilled Nigerian professionals.

Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN), in his remarks, lauded the President for his support and reaffirmed the university’s dedication to academic excellence, research, and peaceful coexistence.
