Protest Erupts in Lagos Over Reported Killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Southwest chapter, on Monday staged a protest in Lagos State over reports alleging that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in strikes linked to the United States and Israel.

The protesters converged around the Maryland axis in the early hours of the day, chanting slogans and condemning what they described as foreign intervention in Iran’s sovereignty. The demonstration reportedly caused tension in the area, with heightened security presence observed.

Speaking to journalists, the South West Coordinator of IMN, Muftau Zakariya, said the protest was aimed at registering opposition to what he termed sustained invasions of sovereign nations by the United States.

He criticised U.S. foreign policy under President Donald Trump, alleging interference in the internal affairs of countries such as Venezuela and Iran.

“I said to you that nothing good is coming from U.S. intervention. It is only interested in economic gains without considering the consequences,” Zakariya said.

The protesters called for global condemnation of foreign military actions and urged international bodies to uphold the sovereignty of nations.
