President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced 26 new appointments across 10 federal government agencies and commissions, with immediate effect.
Former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, will chair the board of the Rural Electrification Agency. He will work alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, appointed as members and non-executive directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors complete the board.
Major General Junaid Bindawa was named chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission. Eight other appointments were made to the commission. Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, a former member of the House of Representatives from Lagos, becomes secretary.
Commissioners appointed to represent states are Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian for Benue, Oladele Olatubosun for Oyo, and Yakubu Umar Barde for Kaduna. Members appointed are Dr Mai Adamu Yau from Borno, Ginika Florence Tor from Enugu, Engineer Lawrence Okoh from Edo, and Bello Morenike Iyabode from Kogi.
In other changes, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju moves from Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund to Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
President Tinubu also named Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading, and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
For the Kwara-based National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation, Engineer Julius Oloro, a former council chairman, takes over as CEO. He replaces Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
The board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission will be chaired by Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu. Board members are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
Shuni Muhammad Dahiru is the new Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education. He replaces Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund in April.
Gisaor Vincent Iorja, an economist, legal scholar, and academic currently serving as secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, was appointed Executive Director, Finance, of the Federal Housing Authority. He fills the vacancy left by Mathias Byuan, who resigned to contest the Benue governorship election.
