Tinubu extends Surveyor-General’s tenure by two years

By Fatimah Yusuf

President Bola Tinubu has approved a two-year tenure extension for the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Mr. AbuduGaniyu Adebomehin, to strengthen ongoing reforms in geospatial data management and national land administration.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the extension will take effect from January 5, 2026, following the recent transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) to the Presidency.

The move, Onanuga said, places national surveying and geospatial intelligence “directly under the executive arm for improved coordination and policy alignment.”
