President Bola Tinubu on Thursday swore in Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN) as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where Amupitan took the oath of office at 1:50 p.m.
Tinubu urged the new INEC boss to uphold the integrity of Nigeria’s elections and strengthen the Commission’s institutional capacity ahead of future polls.
Amupitan’s inauguration comes a week after the Senate confirmed his appointment on October 16 following a rigorous screening session.
