Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 66.
The actor’s death was announced by his daughter, Kira Taiwo, during an emotional Instagram Live session on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Ogogo reportedly battled stage-four cancer before his death, with his daughters recently appealing for medical assistance and seeking specialists to help save their father.
His death marks a major loss to the Yoruba film industry, where he spent decades building a distinguished career as an actor, filmmaker and theatre practitioner.
Taiwo Hassan was widely respected for his contributions to the development and growth of Yoruba-language cinema.
