Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has defended his penchant for dancing, saying the hobby does not interfere with his responsibilities as governor.
Adeleke stated this on Tuesday during a town hall meeting organised by Arise TV for candidates contesting the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
The governor, who described himself as a “prudent worker,” said dancing was part of his personality and insisted that it had not affected his performance in office.
He said, “I dance because in my family, we are jolly good fellows. As I am dancing, I am working. There is time for everything, there is time to dance, and there is time to work. Dancing does not stop me from working.”
Adeleke’s comments followed recent criticism from Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, who mocked him during an APC campaign rally in Osun State and urged voters to reject what he described as the “dancing governor.”
Reacting, Adeleke said those offended by his dancing should learn how to dance, maintaining that his people appreciate his personality.
The governor also highlighted some achievements of his administration, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads across the state, with solar-powered streetlights installed along some routes.
He further said his administration had upgraded and rehabilitated more than 200 primary healthcare facilities, which he said were equipped with electricity and clean water.
Adeleke, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party, is facing the APC candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the ADC candidate, Najeem Salaam, and other candidates in the August 15 election.
