Ajakaye declares Reps bid in Kwara ahead of 2027 elections

The Chief Press Secretary to Kwara State Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, has declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency.

Ajakaye made the announcement on Monday in a video message shared on his social media platforms, where he formally sought the support of leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The media aide, who has served in the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration since 2019, said his decision followed wide consultations with stakeholders across the constituency.

“I am aspiring as a Member of the House of Representatives under the banner of the APC,” he said, adding that discussions with party leaders informed his resolve to join the race ahead of the party primaries.

His declaration comes amid rising political activities in Kwara State as aspirants begin early mobilisation for the 2027 general elections.

Ajakaye emphasised the importance of effective legislative representation, noting that collaboration between lawmakers and the executive arm would enhance governance outcomes.

“A state government will achieve more and deliver greater dividends of democracy with the support of quality and credible lawmakers,” he said.

He pledged to provide responsible and people-oriented representation if elected, promising to align resources with the needs of constituents and work closely with relevant stakeholders to attract development to the constituency.

“I will be a partner for public good and work with all stakeholders to ensure sustainable growth and development,” he added.
